Home Again, Once Again (rambling update)

Here we are, once again back in the southwest – this time tired out from a whirlwind few weeks in Ontario and Quebec, and nursing our first cold of the season. We had a great time, but are VERY glad to be home again. We all missed Sam like crazy; the girls can’t get enough of him now that we’re together again.

My baby brother Mark got married to a lovely gal named Ashley on September 30th. It was my first (and presumably last) experience with wedding photography. It was the first time my whole family has been together for over two years, and I was reminded just how much I love the whole crazy, weird and wacky bunch. I wish we were not so spread out (my sister lives in Vancouver, one brother in Edmonton, the other in Kingston and my parents in New Brunswick).

Then it was off to the Ottawa area for a fun filled and relaxing week with Jen and family. We headed to Montreal to spend the Thanksgiving weekend with Allisun and her crazy clan (anyone who has followed me since my iParenting days probably remembers Allisun – her blog is coming soon) which was head spinningly busy, but great fun. Oh – and I turned 31 during my trip (somehow it doesn’t seem near as big a deal as turning 30).

I must write up the details from the trip, owe Bella her five year letter and Julianna a 14 month update. I’ve been asked to photograph an upcoming homebirth, but my camera wonked out on me again on this vacation (just got it back from Canon three weeks ago, supposedly repaired), so I’m trying to figure out a back up plan as I’d dearly love the opportunity to shoot another birth. I still have not figured out Bella’s preschool situation and our new house still sits without any work done to it….the fixer upper project stretches on and on with no end in sight, as we haven’t even managed to get it started yet (oh the $$$$ wasted – I try not to think about it). I desperately need about two solid weeks to get caught up on Birth Network work – but I can’t see how on earth I’ll ever find the time. I’m getting giddy with anticipation for Brooke’s arrival in a few weeks for GOTD 2006 with Leigh and MB (Goddesses of the Desert – yes, we are embracing our cheesiness. Read more at the bottom of this entry on Leigh’s blog). Oh – and my father-in-law arrives on Monday for an extended (open-ended) visit.

Life keeps rolling right along, doesn’t it?

Oh - and I really need some new music in my life. Please post and share your very favortist song right now - I’ve got iTunes open and ready to go.

i am totally loving elizabeth mitchell’s latest kid’s album ‘you are my little bird’: http://www.folkways.si.edu/search/AlbumDetails.aspx?ID=3130

as for ‘adult’ tunes, i’m digging sonic youth’s latest ‘rather ripped’, particularly track 3, ‘do you believe in rapture?’

  5. Hey Jeanette! Welcome back!

    Two things:

    1. Music: I am loving Natasha Bedingfield latest CD. I particularly love track #3. Unwritten.

    2. I wanted to bring this to your attention. Please, please check out Julie’s latest post on A Little Pregnant. You know I am a very big breastfeeding advocate and bf Sofia until she was 19 months. A LLL consultant helped me a great deal during that time and I am thankful for that. I also know that you will understand why I (and many others) think that LLL is making a big, big mistake by hiring a woman that is so close minded and vile to speak at their 50th Anniversary Gala. Perhaps you know soembody at LLL that can talk some sense into the people that decided to hire her? It is just so so very wrong, on so many levels.

Thanks sweets. Glad you are back.

  6. Our summer was full of the latest Red Hot Chili Peppers “Stadium Arcadium”…usually not my thing but an incredible double album. We also got the newest Bob Dylan - also very good. And Matt has been into The Last Kiss soundtrack. We listen to lots of other stuff, but that is the newest we got from itunes. I’ll think on it and send more music just to have in the crates…
