It’s all Mani’s fault, really.

It’s all Mani’s fault, really.

Okay – so as a last ditch effort to rescue this blog from the doldrums of my pathetic twice monthly postings (and because I’ve always wanted to be as cool as Mani), I somehow found myself rashly signing up for Holidailies. After I pressed the button I wondered what I’d gotten myself into – a post a day for an entire month. Seriously? That is probably more entries that I’ve written in all of 2006. Yes – my name is Jeanette and I am a sucky blogger.

Since I’m still feeling a complete lack of creativity or inspiration – I figure I’ll just ramble off some random tidbits for today…hopefully writing each day will help me find my muse again (or perhaps I’ll just bore you all so you’ll stop checking back entirely). We’ll see.

• I will answer those questions, I swear. I actually got halfway through the next batch and then kinda forgot. I’m lame that way.
• Bella’s cast comes off next week (wait, did I forget to tell you she fractured her arm? I can’t remember).
• So, she fractured her arm. I didn’t notice it was fractured for over a week. Yes, I’m that negligent of a mother. Not my finest hour.
• We leave for Disney the day after her cast comes off. If you’ve been to Disneyland, post and tell me everything you know. I particularly want some ideas of great places to go outside the park (beaches/scenery/other attractions) as we want to spend at least one day doing something different than hunting for princesses and riding ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ for the eight hundredth time.
• Bella really, really, really likes Pirates – she’s actually only mildly interested in the Princesses.
• In an attempt to get rid of my ever increasing muffin top – I just joined the Y with Marybeth. So far, she’s gone twice and I’ve not managed to get off my ass once. In my defense, the two mornings we were going to go, Julianna barely slept and I was a miserable mess. Will go next week. Three times. Really.
• I got my first manicure/pedicure ever yesterday (no, that’s not entirely true – I did get a manicure on my wedding day). It was nice. I could make a habit of it – if my life allowed. My toes are really cute too (got a jeweled snowflake on one big toe and a snowman on the other) – wish I could take a picture and show you. I’ve never had cute toes before.
• I can’t take a picture and show you because my camera is at the Canon Service Center again. This time they promised me they would rush the repair – unfortunately the camera sat in their warehouse for 11 days before they started to rush. I’ve yelled and screamed and stomped my feet – but the most I can get from them is that they will *try* to have the camera to me by Wednesday
• Anyone have a spare Canon 20D to lend me to take to Disneyland?
• Have you bought Sarah McLachlan’s new Christmas CD – Wintersong? You should. I’m a Sarah fan, no doubt (we are from the same city – practically best friends, you know) and this CD is better than I expected. Perfect for cuddling with my hubby in front of a fire on a cold winter night (okay, so I live in Arizona and the high today is almost 70 degrees – but I imagine it would be perfect for a cold winter’s night in front of the fire). The cover of Joni Mitchell’s song ‘River’ (one of my all time favorite songs) is perfection.
• Tonight we’re going to the annual APS Fantasy of Lights Parade. Bella is very excited. We’ve cracked open our Trader Joe’s chocolate Advent Calendar, and Bella asks every day when we’re going to get our tree (answer: after our Disney trip). Julie knows that Santa says “Ho Ho Ho” and that she got chocolate before breakfast this morning – but beyond that she’s oblivious. I can’t wait to see her Christmas morning.
• Um, that’s all I got folks. What’s new with you?

  1. Laguna Beach. You must go to Laguna Beach. It is about 20-25 minutes south from Anaheim and it is just glorious. Obviously it’s cold there now but Laguna’s coastline is like the most fabulous around there, plus it’s great little town started with artists and hippies now you must have a tribillion dollars to live there. There is a cool taco place there called Taco Loco and it rocks. Huntington Beach is fun and has a cute downtown. You also could go up to LA for a day…about 1 hour drive north…and then there is endless possibilities. Have fun!

How was the parade? We had a silly, lazy day wrapped in love.

  3. Ack! What happened to your camera? My warranty expires in a few weeks, and I can’t decide if I should send it in for work on the focus or not. I keep thinking it’s user error, but it happens often enough to be REALLY annoying.

  5. Oh my Jeanette, Her arm WAS fractured??? You know, I wondered after talking with you about it. No wonder she was at her wits end with Halloween and a hurt arm. Poor girl. Please sign my name to her cast for me okay? Tell her I wish I could have done it myself.

As for the greatest kiddy park ever, we took Satchel to D.L. last Thanksgiving. He loved climbing the Swiss Family Robinson treehouse most of all…the least technical of every amusement there - no use for rides, characters, etc. In fact, when Mickey came to welcome him at our hotel room with balloons and a song(we stayed at one of the Disney spots) he screamed that he wanted to go home. He liked the hot tub and pool downstairs at the hotel. Even the food was overpriced and not that yummy. If you want to capture Bella’s pirate spirit, make sure to find the restaurant that watches over the Pirates of the Carribean ride and make reservations NOW. It is always a wait. This way you can ride the ride and then have lunch with an eye on piratedom. She’ll get her fill!

Then head to the beach. At this time of year, we watched 20-30 dolphins bounce in the waves at sunset right from the shore…maybe migration time???

When do you leave, the date? Just curious.

    love to you,
    B

p.s. Maisha wants more on BFW and I think I should email privately to a few of you there…okay? Can you let her know?
