Moving sucks
Have you missed me, my sweets?
We finally moved in on Labour Day - and we are slowly (ever so excruciatingly slowly) digging our way out of the pile of boxes. We had a yard sale last weekend and got rid of an entire room full of crap (causing me to come face to face with my pack rat mentality AND my shopping problem) and made pretty decent money. My home currently has greater resemblance to a slovenly hovel than a newly remodeled mid-century ranch…but such is life when moving with kids.
We went a week and a half with no gas (so no hot water or cooking) and still don’t have a bathtub. It took almost as long to hook up our internet, and we still have not gotten around to installing the microwave, hooking up our telephone or getting the ice maker/water dispenser on our fridge working correctly. There are huge drywall patches everywhere, and we’re going to have to repaint almost every wall. It’s coming together though, slowly but surely, and I’m over the moon to finally be living in our space. My shower alone makes the year and a half wait worth it, it is that divine. Whenever I actually get it cleaned, I promise to post pictures.
This place is going to kick some serious butt when it’s finally finished, and you’re all invited to my housewarming party (so long as you bring alcohol, and presents).
Microwaves, a land line phone, perfect walls~ these things are SO overrated, esp when it comes to having your own space. Congrats- and fun blog!

Congrats and welcome back. We moved when my twins were just under 2 and I was 34 weeks pregnant and I said never again! Moving bites. New spaces are nice though.

I’m excited to see pics..wish I could come to your housewarming!
I’m not a pack rat at all…I throw and give TONS of stuff away. For me, minimum is best. But that doesn’t stop me from overconsuming at Target.

So glad you’re finally there! I can’t wait to see the pictures. Heck, I can’t wait to see pictures of ANYTHING–it’s been too long since you’ve updated Flickr!
Wish I lived close enough to join the party!

Whahoo! I figured this was why you’d been so quiet on all fronts. I don’t envy you, because I hate moving myself, but it sounds like your new place will be awesome. Can’t wait to see the pictures!

You say “no hot water” so casually! The no cooking part, well, that I could do without. But no hot water?! No fun indeed. What did you about baths? I was going to ask if you boiled water on the stove, but you couldn’t have even done that! YES, moving sucks big time!!! But I am so glad that you love your new home (or will when everything is all done) and I can’t wait to see pictures. Have faith … it will all come together at some point, I promise!
